Q.3-Why use ShareMedicalSpace.com? I can place an ad in a medical newspaper or journal!
Ads placed in medical newspapers are not cheap- be prepared to spend a lot more money there than on ShareMedicalSpace.com
More importantly, with medical newspapers, your ad's exposure is limited to just one or a few specialties. Most likely, your space would be attractive to many specialties. So your ad on ShareMedicalSpace.com will have a greater chance of finding a match, simply because more specialists will see it.
Q.4-Why use ShareMedicalSpace.com?- CraigsList does the same for free!
CraigsList is not designed efficiently for sharing medical/dental space. If, for example, one is looking for an office with an available receptionist with three exam rooms on Tuesdays and Fridays, then one would have to contact dozens of listings on CraigsList to get that information. This is why CraigsList has not caught on with the medical office sharing community, and why most doctors don't even think of CraigsList.
ShareMedicalSpace.com was designed by a doctor, for doctors. It places all the relevant information upfront in an easily accessible way, so searchers can quickly compare listings to one another.
So, while you're "saving" money on CraigsList, be prepared to have your space sit empty much longer than you thought. And remember- if your space sits empty for just one or two months longer on CraigsList compared to ShareMedicalSpace.com, then you literally lost money on CraigsList. Think about why landlords pay brokers good money to find tenants- time is money.
Q.5-I'm very independent. Won't sharing medical space cramp my style?
Sharing medical space allows you to share the financial burdens of maintaining an office while letting you retain your independence. Two doctors can share the same space on different days, or use separate exam rooms on the same day, and never have to explain or justify their work habits to one another, because they are not partners and have no employee/employer relationship. Lawyers and other professionals have been sharing office suites for many years; only recently, due to financial pressures, have doctors realized the benefits of this kind of agreement.
Q.6-There are so many details to click when listing my space. Do I have to check all that apply?
You only need to enter details for the fields identified as “required.” If a doctor runs a regular search (limited to location and specialty), then checking or not checking the other non-required boxes will have no effect on the search. However, if another doctor runs an “Advanced Search” looking for space with certain characteristics or amenities, and you did not indicate that your space offers those characteristics or amenities, your space will not be considered a match for that search.
For example, if a doctor runs an “Advanced Search” looking specifically for space with internet access that is available on Saturdays, and you did not check the “internet access” box under “Office Amenities” (though you checked the “Saturday” box under “Days Available”), your space will not be included in the results for that search. Thus even though your space might have matched his specialty and location needs, your listing won’t appear.
Therefore, it is best to include as many details about your space as possible.
Q.8-I am looking for space in New York, and there are so many listings- how can I narrow the search?
You should use "Advanced Search" instead of the regular search. There, you can choose from many more criteria (i.e., office staff, building feautures) that will limit your search, or, use the "keyword" feature.
You could do a little homework and see how much medical office space is going for in your neighborhood. Then if you are charging per day, divide by 30- that should give you a reasonable number. If you are providing a fully furnished office with use of your staff, then of course you should charge more- look at your monthly operating expenses (rent, payroll, utilities, equipment lease etc.), and divide that by 30.

Q.13-I speak Korean and want to find medical space in a Korean neighborhood. How do I do that?
Enter the word "Korean" in the "language" or "keyword" field in an "Advanced Search". Your search will then display listings where the word "Korean" was entered in the language field or anywhere in the listing, such as the description box.
You may use a credit card using our shopping cart. We use a PCI-compliant remote server via Authorize.net, the highest industry standard level of security. No credit card data is stored on ShareMedicalSpace.com.
Q.15-Why am I unable to upload my photo? or, Why does it take so long?
The system allows you to upload photo files of about 3mb each. Large files like those can take about a minute to upload, so please be patient. Larger files cannot be uploaded at all, so please choose lower resolution photos. Be advised that on a format like this, anything larger than 1mb is undistinguishable, so you won't sacrifice quality.
Q.16-Weird things like disappearing data and incorrect error messages appear when I try to complete my listing
This sounds like a browser compatibility issue. The site works best with Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer 7.0. Other browsers or earlier versions may not be compatible. Please take a few minutes to change/upgrade your browser, or, email us with a description of the problem and we will fix the issue.
Q.17-I tried paying, but the little circle keeps going round and round and will not complete
After you click the payment button, you will see a pop-up window warning you to be patient and not to click the payment button again. But you must click the OK button for the payment to proceed.
Q.18-How do I upgrade my brief listing to a full listing?
After you log in, click "My Listings" on the left toolbar. Click "upgrade" in the "Edit" column. Upgrading is free, and it increases your odds of getting more responses and from tenants more suited to your space.
